Frequently Asked Questions
Veneers are a great way to perfect your smile. Veneers are made of porcelain and generally cover the front, sides, and biting surface of the tooth. Veneers can change a tooth's size, shape, and color, yet still look and feel like natural teeth. Also referred to as "instant orthodontia", veneers can be used to straighten teeth in just two appointments, lasting a few hours. Braces, on the other hand, can take months or years to show results.
Neuromuscular dentistry can treat migraines and many other chronic pains. By relaxing muscles, we can determine proper jaw position and maintain it. This reduces muscular stress levels, returning them to a more stable position. The end result is fewer migraines, and in some cases, none at all.
Porcelain restorations are both very strong and natural-looking. Gone are the days when porcelain had to be fused with metal, making for unsightly graying around the gums. Today's porcelain restorations look more like your natural teeth and offer you the chance to have a beautiful smile.
There's little difference between a crown and a veneer. Both are made of bonded porcelain. The biggest difference is in the amount of tooth structure that needs to be reduced to make sure the restoration fits properly. Most veneers only cover the front, sides, and biting surface of a tooth. Crowns, or caps, can often cover from three-quarters to the whole tooth.
Neuromuscular dentistry deals with the relationship between the teeth, muscles, and jaw joint. When the muscles are not functioning in their most optimal position, patients can experience a host of different signs and symptoms ranging from TMJ and migraines to worn and broken-down teeth. We focus on relaxing the muscles and letting them function to their optimal position. We maintain this position with a bite appliance, allowing the muscles to retrain themselves and give the jaw joint time to heal.
Dr. Swoverland and his staff have received extensive training from the world-renowned Las Vegas Institute. Our dental training has allowed us to acquire the techniques to properly restore a smile to its healthy position. Dr. Swoverland is one of only 450 worldwide graduates from this prestigious institution, thus allowing him to complete a full-mouth restoration in as little as two visits.
In addition, we offer state-of-the-art technology that lets us provide the best care possible to all of our patients. While there are many dentists to choose from, not all of them practice cosmetic dentistry. Shouldn't all dentistry be cosmetic?
Many of our patients don't want to go through the lengthy process of orthodontia. Porcelain veneers can be the right option for them. By using porcelain veneers, we can straighten teeth, eliminate chips, spaces, or gaps and improve color in an instant. This treatment can be completed in two appointments and just a few hours—not the months or years braces can take to show results.
There are several options when it comes to bleaching your teeth. Some can be very costly. Our preferred method is at home bleaching with custom made trays from our laboratory. This allows you to bleach when it's convenient for you. We offer several solution strengths, allowing you to bleach for one hour to all night.
Depending upon your situation, we can complete a restoration in as little as one hour, or a full mouth reconstruction in two appointments. The staff will accommodate your schedule to make sure you receive your new smile as quickly as possible.
Silver mercury was once a common material used for fillings. We now know that mercury can actually cause further damage to a tooth's structure. Because mercury is made of metal, it expands and contracts. The expansion of the metal presses against the remaining healthy portions of your tooth, leading to fractures. Likewise, when the metal contracts, the margin between the mercury metal opens up, allowing bacteria to harbor under the filling. This causes recurrent decay under and around silver fillings.
Today we use tooth colored restorations or resin. These restorations look and feel just like your natural tooth. The material doesn't expand and contract like metal fillings, limiting the chances for decay to redevelop. It is also a healthier solution, since it's free of any mercury.
We have several funding options for your dental treatments, from shorter-term, 0% interest payments to longer-term payments with varying amounts of interest. Whatever your financial needs may be, our courteous staff will assist you in determining the right plan to meet your needs.
Insurance companies vary in their benefits from one employer to the next. Your insurance coverage is based upon the contract between your employer and your insurance company. In most situations, cosmetic dentistry is not covered by insurance. While they may cover a portion of a tooth that requires medical treatment, they will most likely not cover procedures that offer a beautiful smile.
I contacted this dental office after recently moving to the area. The staff is very friendly and treats me like I have been coming for years. The treatment for my toothache was clearly explained to me and they offered several options, one of which was seeking a specialists opinion before proceeding. I did have the procedure done at this office because I felt that my well being was their top priority. Highly recommend. A++++

I am beyond happy with my results... I began by getting Invisalign to straighten my teeth a few years ago. I loved the results but recently decided I wanted to do something about the stains on my teeth that I’ve had since I was a kid. I had a consultation and it was decided I would try veneers. I LOVE them... I would definitely recommend Impressions Dental to anyone needing any type of dental work! Very professional staff and a clean, friendly environment.
