Preventative Dental Care
Preventative dental care is necessary to maintain a healthy smile for your lifetime.
Routine dental cleanings and exams in West Lafayette, IN are recommended no less than every six months. Keeping a regular maintenance schedule allows for our experienced dental team to detect dental concerns in their infancy, allowing them to be treated before more invasive—and costly—conditions occur.
At your appointment we will chart the health and condition of your gum tissues, provide a dental cleaning, take any required dental radiographs (X-rays), and conduct a comprehensive evaluation to diagnose tooth decay and other dental conditions. Doing this on a regular basis will allow for early detection of potentially harmful dental conditions while also offering you the option of a more proactive treatment plan approach.
Periodontal Therapy
At your first hygiene appointment, we will evaluate the health and condition of your gum tissues. Based on this evaluation, it may be determined that you suffer from periodontal disease, the leading cause of adult tooth loss.
Periodontal disease is inflammation of the gums, which can progress to affect the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth. The three stages of gum disease—from least to most severe—are gingivitis, periodontitis, and advanced periodontitis.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Fillings may be required if you have a cavity (carries, decay). Cavities occur when the tooth enamel has been compromised and is most often detected on the dental X-rays we take at your routine cleaning visits at our West Lafayette, IN dental office. X-rays allow for the early detection of cavities before more harmful conditions occur.
Dental Crowns
Bonded crowns are the right solution for worn, broken, and damaged teeth. Custom lab craftsmanship, combined with CEREC 3D CAD/CAM technology, are both strong and natural-looking. Not only does placing a custom-fitted crown allow us to treat your teeth in a less invasive manner, it also lets us protect the remaining, healthy portions of your tooth. The end result is a stronger, healthy smile.
Creating a crown is now easier than ever, thanks to CEREC. This breakthrough technology allows us to place your crown in just one visit, often within 90 minutes. This saves you from having to make multiple visits to our office. The porcelain restoration is milled right in our lab.
